The McCoy Family, Rough and Nimble
William McCoy, the patriarch of the Mccoys, was born in Ireland around 170 and
emigrated to Doe Hill Virginia. The McCoys, led by Randolph McCoy (grandson of William) lived mostly on the Kentucky side of Tug Fork. The majority of the Mccoys living in Pike County, Kentucky fought for the Union Army in the American Civil War. Randolph and his wife had 13 children. For most of his life, Randolph McCoy was not as prosperous as Devil Anse, he did own some land and livestock.
